What is more important is that the leisure time activities of both student and non-student youth are so organised that they provide for healthy recreation and constructive work habits. As is evident, a youth feels more at home within his age-group. Therefore, to reach them, it is but natural to take the help of more active groups among them.
In Bangladesh, a strong emphasis has been placed on awareness building against drug-abuse among youth as they are considered to be the most precious asset for human resource development. Financial and technical assistance is provided by the government and NGO’s to help them undertake activities such as socio cultural programmes. It has also been realised that youth power can be harnessed not only from preventing youths from the malady of addiction but also by improving the environment they live in. One such example is the “Rainy Day” concert organised by Prothom Alo to observe the International Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking. Some 15000 youths saying ‘No to drugs’ vowed to launch a nationwide movement against drug.

This is accomplished by means of removing the risk in customer s minds through obvious value-add.
So before you go into an interview, ask yourself, What is my unique Value-add for this company? What can I say, do, or show, that will separate me from all other candidates? And, How convincing am I?
There is no secret that in many cases today, the most qualified, are not always the ones hired. Sadly, many qualified individuals lose out on opportunities expressly due to their inability to distinguish themselves [in the interview] by showing unique value-add. You may then ask, How does one construct a value-add interview? The process is surprisingly simple.
#1: As quickly as you can, write down all the words that describe your unique strengths that relate to the position to which you re applying. [Note: Five words are not enough. Try for at least fifteen / you may also ask others for their input].
#2: As quickly as you can, write down all the words that describe your potential weaknesses as they relate to the position to which you re applying.
#3: Turn each word into a sentence or statement. It does not have to be complicated. For example, if one of your strength-words was, experience you could simply say, I am experienced. [Note: Do the same for your weaknesses list as well].
#4: Take each sentence / statement, and turn them into a question. I am experienced becomes, Why am I experienced?

First, we had circle time with the kids and recited some classic nursery rhymes. One of the nursery rhymes was the age-old rhyme, Little Miss Muffet. After singing in our circle we asked the kids some questions about Little Miss Muffet. We discovered that they knew what Little Miss Muffet sat on, what she ate, and what frightened her. We then posed a thought-provoking question to the preschoolers. Can the curds be separated from Miss Muffet s curds and whey? The children responded with interesting answers. Their answers became our scientific hypotheses. We documented all responses in large text on our chalkboard so that the children can see and value their predictions. We then headed to the kitchen “laboratory” to see whose prediction was true.
We had the kids sit at the table and measure the milk and vinegar portions for the experiment. They counted how many cups of milk were needed and how many tablespoons of vinegar to add. It was now time to blast the mixture into the microwave for two minutes. We recommend that an adult perform this part of the experiment to avoid placing children in harms way. After two minutes, the mixture was ready to be taken out of the microwave. We allowed it to cool for several minutes and then the children compared two samples of the mixture before and after it was placed in the microwave. They observed that the mixture was lumpier after being heated in the microwave. The children then strained the mixture by using kitchen towels. What remained was a white, rubbery substance - the curds. They were excited. They saw first-hand what Miss Muffet ate. Then they discovered through experimentation that curds can be separated from Miss Muffet s curds and whey.
The children dyed the curds different colors using food coloring and made their own rubbery type of play dough. They loved touching the curds and feeling its texture. Some children even shaped the curds into cool looking dinosaurs and flowers with our help. At the end of the day the children were enlightened and had a great appreciation for science. They were all proud to show their parents what they had done. They were truly young scientists!

I m weary of saying No to my children. Not just the everyday No s. Don t hit your brother and No, you cannot have 5 pieces of candy. I am weary of the No I am continually saying to our culture. The world is bound and determined to take away my children s innocence. They want my children to grow up way too fast. They want my little girl to dress like an adult. They want my little boy to know things he is way too young to know. I m weary of saying you can t go to that movie, because it is not appropriate for your age. No, you can t wear what everyone else is wearing, because it is not appropriate. The straw that finally broke the camel s back was when my son walked in while I was watching the news. He asked me, Mommy is it true that men can marry men and women can marry women? Mom, if two women marry can they have a baby? My son is 6. I don t want to be discussing sexuality with him much less homosexuality. So, I told him that no men can t marry men and women can t marry women (for nowanyway) and that women with women cannot have a baby. (Don t get me started on explaining how they can). I should not be having these discussions with my children, but I m being forced too. What happened to childhood innocence?
As I was thinking about my weariness I remembered the song and verse in the Bible about Standing in the Gap. I also realized that God cares more for my children than I do. He is there to guide me and support my weariness. He knows there is sin in the world. God wants me to rest in him and seek his guidance in these difficult times. He wants me to say No and set moral limits based on Biblical standards that differ widely from the world. He expects me to raise children who respect God and obey his commands.
The problem with being weary is it is so easy to give in. I have been there and I would guess you have to. Oh, okay you can see that movie or maybe you can wear that shirt. You know Everybody else does. Please hear me clearly there is a big difference between raising naive children and innocent children. I just want my children to grow up in a reasonable time frame. I want them to know what is appropriate for their age.
So, fellow Mom I ask that we stand together. That we stand in the gap for our children. That we constantly seek God s guidance and protection for our children. We can grow weary, but we can t give up. Our children need us to show them the way. They need to see living up to God s standards is very different than the world s.
